Jack Brumbaugh's rich mixed media drawings are quiet and reflective. He uses oil pastels, oil paints, colored pencils, oil sticks and more to create soothingly beautiful waterscapes inspired by his proximity to Maryland's Chesapeake Bay. Jack applies several coats of varnish on top of the finished piece which enables him to show the artwork without glass. The end result is painterly; however, he still considers them drawings. Up close, Jack's work appears almost abstract — a profusion of colorful strokes — yet, when you step back, the image before you becomes realistic and magical.
