Learn about artist Karen Burton | Rendezvous Gallery

Karen Burton is an illustrator, surface pattern designer and photographer. Her surface pattern designs have been sold to clients such as Macy’s, Deirdre, Martex, J.P. Stevens/WestPoint Home, Springs Global, Gitano Accessories, Current Inc., and St. Clair Pakwell. Her one-of-a-kind hand-painted silk scarves and couture pillows evolved from a desire to recreate the look of her abstract watercolors onto fabric.

Burton works in her studio on a hillside near Waterford, Virginia overlooking the beautiful western Loudoun County countryside with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance. She is also owner of the art consulting firm Rendezvous Gallery and its online gallery https://rendezvousstyle.com.

Karen is also working on new digital work that features flowers, food and everyday objects - part of her "Favorite Things" series. Much of this work includes a combination of realism, whimsy and a love of color. Upon close examination - a myriad of energetic marks provide an almost abstract sensibility. A select group of her florals are now available here, printed on luxurious archival paper - ready to frame.

Another new avenue Karen has enjoyed experimenting with is a series of hand-painted watercolor floral paintings. She is offering a selection here for a limited time. Prints will be available upon request.

Karen recently had the honor of having one of her illustrations chosen for the United Nations' Callout to Creatives to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
